George Herman Ruth, A.K.A Babe Ruth (1895-1948), American professional baseball player, was one of the most gifted and popular players in the history of baseball (Sports in the 1920's 1). Ruth was a left handed batter out of Baltimore, Maryland (Wendel 1). Babe Ruth had a true passion for the game and made a living playing the sport he loved while making fans go wild every time he stepped to the plate.On the other side of the ball, Ruth played outfield for the Yankees. He also acquired many nicknames through his career including "The Great Bambino" which was Italian for Babe and "The Sultan of Swat" for his amazing home run hitting ability (Sports in the 1920's 1). Babe Ruth accomplished many goals and received many awards over his career such at the fact that he won 4 World Series, slugged 54 home runs his first season as a Yankee and won 10 home run crowns. Ruth's last accomplishment came in 1936, being inducted into the Hall Of Fame receiving 95.13% of the votes (Wendel 1).
